How to build a pool Las Vegas Style

1. Move to Las Vegas in the dead of the summer and come to the conclusion that they weren't kidding when they said it gets hot here
2. Talk to some friends who have pools and find out some reputable companies
3. Get some bids from those companies
4. Recover from passing out from the 'great deal' they have to offer you
5. Watch them dig a big hole and start swearing when they hit "caliche" (hard substance found in the dirt that you pay extra for to have excavated)
6. Put in lots of plumbing, and rebar, watch your yard go to a all new level of a mess
7. Watch them construct the waterfall rocks and spa flagstone rocks
8. Enjoy more Mexican music

more to come....that's as far as we've gotten so far!

10 years of marriage......

Look where its got us! We're still as beautiful as the day we wed. So we celebated our 10 year anniversary this month and what do we have to show for 10 years? Well, lets see.... four fun kids, medical school checked off the list, residency checked off the list, five great years in California, we've purchased two homes, a mini van, a truck,... and now a new phase has begun in our new location - Las Vegas! Just in case you were wondering, we passed our great looks onto our kids.

Back to School

I love everything about back to school. I love shopping for new clothes, new shoes, bright yellow school buses, backpacks, teachers, learning, the anticipation, brand new crayons, sharpened pencils,...etc. This year was however a little nerve wracking as we moved over the summer and had to start at a new school. The kids were a little nervous, but I was so proud of them for being so brave! They both have great teachers and we are confident once we get adjusted to our more strict school, we will have a successful year! I almost titled this "the happiest day of the year" as it has been dubbed by some ladies in my new ward - Because one thing else I love about Back to School is the routine of it and feeling like I have time to get things accomplished. (which occasionaly gets interupted by my four kiddos when they are home with me constantly as you can imagine)
Carter is in 3rd grade, Hanna 1st and Jake is in preschool this year

Mt. Charleston

We've been in Las Vegas for two months now and are adjusting to our new desert environment. We love our new home and ward. We are looking forward to cooler days this fall and enjoying the famous mild winters. This weekend we went up to Mt. Charleston (40 minutes away) to remind ourselves and the kids what evergreen trees look like. Its amazing just how nice 80 degrees felt up there after 'enjoying' two months of 105 plus hot days. I can already tell that we will love escaping to Mt. Charleston!
