The night before Carter was born, my cousin Myrna had us over for dinner. We were a year into medical school at the time and living in Maryland far away from any other family. She lived downtown close to Arlington National Cemetary so we didn't see her a lot. She made us the yummiest dinner!! I don't remember all the details, but I do recall amazing ribs and this dessert. It was seriously so nice, I recall that dinner and time spent with her family from time to time and it always warms my heart. I have a great heritage and family that I come from....the kind of people who always put family first and love unconditionally. Although we rarely have seen Myrna she went to all that trouble just for us. Thanks Myrna! Jared loved the dessert so I made it for him once a few months later. It was yummy, but I lamented that I did not have a cool trifle dish like Myrna to put it in and make it look pretty. So ten years later....(not sure why it took that long), I finally purchased a trifle dish and voila Toffee Dessert for FHE tonight!! I think I will always remember Myrna and her kindness when I see this trifle dish and especially when we fill it with this particular dessert.
