Rather than fight the crowds for Valentines Dinner out this year, we opted to stay in and dine with some great friends. We've talked about doing this for awhile, but with deployments and such....this is the first time we finally made it happen. It was an amazing evening. Casey and Emily hosted and did such a great job! Just the table was gorgeous to look at. Emily is such a cute gal who seriously knows the "best" of everything. She and Casey are food conesieurs and I always trust their recommendations for local restaraunts because they have great taste. Each couple was hand delivered a beautiful black invitation along with fancy jewelry from St. Johns clothing down on the strip where Emily worked before getting married. We were invited to dress up in nice clothes and the ladies got to wear the sparkly jewelry. Jared was a bit dissapointed about the tie part, but I thought it was fun!

I am sad I did not take more pictures of the food because it was all so amazing. We had stuffed mushrooms for appetizers ( a personal favorite of mine), amazing salad with a homemade lemon dressing, toasted garlic bread, filets grilled to perfection, perfectly cooked carrots, and melt in your mouth mashed potatoes.
This cake that Emily makes for dessert is awesome. I've had it once before. Its a chocolate cake with buttermilk frosting on top. Between the layers is a dark chocolate frosting layer. There is pudding added in and I think sour cream so it is so moist. Once cut Emily adds fresh raspberries and drizzles a raspberry sauce over the top. Yeah makes you want to eat the picture huh!
Casey and Emily, thanks for such a great evening. Playing the newly wed game afterwards was hilarious too! Jared and I won! What can I say, we've been married for almost 14 years. Love you babe.
