Before taking off today, I took lots of pictures of our rental and the surrounding property. It was a perfect location for us. A few Kilometers from Volterra and not more than an hour to any of our other towns. The surrounding countryside was gorgeous. I can’t wait to come back when the weather is better and see Tuscany in bloom. This villa was huge! We only rented the right side in the picture below: The rest the owners live in. The owner spoke no English, a little German, and no Spanish. So we resorted to having Dave speak to her in his German from his mission and her little bit of German all while standing in Italy. Weird.
Some other houses on the same property:
This tree was so interesting…..these fruit what are they?
We were back in the car and headed to Florence, again. It was beautiful again.
Gotta Love all the scooters:
We walked to see the David again, and this time actually got to see it. And it was really worth coming back for! Amazing.
Everyone looking at the David except Cole who is playing Dad’s iphone. He’s so uncultured!
This drawing had gotten a lot further:
And the walk back to the car wasn’t any easier….Karyl cursed this walk both days!!
After one last look at beautiful Florence’s skyline, we jumped back in our van and headed for our last stop which was Siena.
Siena At the heart of Siena is Italy’s Best town Square. People lay out as if on the beach on this amphitheater shaped square. The nine sections fan out from the Siena City Hall building. It’s a wonderful place to eat, take a break, or enjoy some sunshine with lunch. Slightly vacant in early November on brisk cold afternoons, it becomes a tourist sight as well as a stroller race track??
Stroller coaster:
All the buildings are the color of the pavers and are made from the dirt below that is the same color. The same color that Crayola users know as “Burnt Sienna”!!
Siena’s famous Duomo is really neat. With a striped theme inside and out going on we enjoyed calling it the Zebra Cathedral.
We enjoyed our last evening in Tuscany: It is so cool to live here and experience this: Europe is our playground, literally.
A parting picture of Siena’s famous City Hall. Goodbye Tuscany, I hope to visit you again soon!
