We slept in a little hotel down in the central part of town which turned out to be a great find. They had a wonderful breakfast and a half mannequin on display for decoration. This made us laugh and laugh since we had half a mannequin for décor in our Paris apartment which only was the legs! Too funny. It was fun to giggle like little girls without husbands or kids around to take care of. We went to check out downtown Garmisch for the morning. It was a little foggy and rainy so I was hoping it would burn off by midday making it worth a trip up the Alspitze for a view of the Alps. It stopped raining, but wasn’t a clear day.
We decided to drive over to the Alspitze to see what the camera at the bottom of the hill was showing the view from the top looked like. It looked cloudy, but we decided to take our chances and bought the tickets anyway! I’m so glad we did. Even though it was a little cloudy it was a really cool view at the top. It was neat to see the leaves changing too.
Mom was thrilled with this adventure!
Our last Adventure was a tour of the Neuschwanstein Castle. We had the last tickets of the day tour. We rode the bus up to the Marien brucke for the not-to-be-missed photos and views. Then we carefully made our way to the castle with the wheel chair. We enjoyed the tour and views that only this Castle can offer. It’s a beautiful time of year to see it! After the tour let out it was totally dark. So I ran ahead to get the wheel chair from where we entered the castle. When I got back to the exit, I waited for mom. She didn’t come out. So I waited and went down the hill a little and started calling her name. I started getting worried as it had been 10 minutes already. All the workers were leaving. I let them know that I couldn’t find my mom, and they didn’t say much really just headed down the hill. The horse drawn carriage rides had stopped at this point which was the plan for getting down the hilly, windy, steep road down! Some nice ladies that spoke English started helping me yell and look for mom. We went back up to the exit point of the castle and were yelling her name. Finally she appeared. She had headed back up toward the Marien brucke instead of down the hill trying to be helpful! Ugh. I almost lost my sorta disabled mom at the Neuschwanstein Castle! The story doesn’t end there. Next we had the joy of getting down the hill to where we were parked. Its steep and it was dark and is at least 3/4 of a mile to a mile down. Thankfully I have been lifting weights for two months now because I walked my mom in the wheel chair slowly down that hill in the dark the entire way. 2-3 cars passed and we tried to flag them down. No one stopped. I couldn’t believe it! We made it safe and sound and my arms didn’t even shake. I feel it was a huge blessing! Mom felt so bad the whole time. BTW I even asked before we headed up to our tour if the carriages would be running after the tour and they gave me false info and said yes! Thankfully it is all just a funny memory now and everyone is safe and sound.
