Viva Las Vegas

Jared had the day off on thursday, so off we went to explore the strip. We haven't done this a lot since moving here, mostly because I like to pretend it doesn't exist. And for the most part that works since we live a good ways out and don't need to go near it unless we want to.
We started by heading to Mandalay Bay's Shark Reef. It was a fun smaller sized aquarium perfect for a "big pregnant lady". The kids enjoyed it and we did too. The turtles were a highlight along with the komodo dragon, sword fish, and petting the rays.

The Komodo Dragon

They had these cool wands that you could push the number on the wall next to the exhibit and it would tell you about that fish/mammal--Jakey loved learning from "the wand"

These "Lion fish" were so cool!

After eating at the busiest In & Out Burger in the world for lunch and fighting for a table fit for a family our size, gorging ourselves on yummy burgers and fries,
we headed to the M&M factory via the MGM Grand Casino. We walked through the MGM to avoid the 108 degree heat and to take a peak at the Lion habitat. The Lions were really active while we were there and so fun to watch. Its amazing how much muscle definition lions have.

The M&M factory was also on the smaller side....again just right for me right now. We watched a short fun 3-D movie about the red and yellow M&M characters. We actually got evacuated about 4 minutes into it because of a fire alarm, but then as we were walking out they said it was a false alarm. Crazy!! The kids all got to pick out some M&M's in whatever colors they wanted. I loved seeing all the varieties of colors. Such a fun idea!!

We had a great time and no one handed my kids suggestive literature on the streets. Maybe we'll head back!

Ok, the part about the suggestive literature cracks me up. Doing the drive from LA to BYU MANY times we always hit the In&Out in Vegas. I can vividly remember the wonderful advertisements on top of the cabs. It is colorful for sure.

I agree it is nice to be far away from the strip. I do like that it is there because there are many good food places! We get spoiled having some of the top chiefs here! Also, some good shows and of course those not so lovely hand-outs!!! And the Taxi cabs signs etc. Yah! Good & Bad! Glad you had fun! April

We wanted to do all those things when we came in December...but I ran out of steam. I was still recovering from surgery, I am glad to have seen it through your blog!
