It was a gorgeous crisp day--perfect weather
Amber, Jen and I--I admire these ladies so much for their determinationIn an effort to have motivation to work out, I decided about 4 months ago to train for a triathlon with my friend Jen. She has done two others and really loves it. I have swam farther, ran greater distances, and cycled harder than I ever have in my entire life training for this event. The past 10 years of child bearing have defintely taken a toll on my physique so its going to take even more discipline and more determination to get to the level I want to be, but I'm up to the challenge.
I learned a lot while training and competing in this event. At one point of the bicycle portion I was feeling tired and overwhelmed. What helped me to continue and push through was remembering what a blessing it is to be out there. A blessing which at any given time could be taken away. Thoughts of my Uncle Gary who recently fell off a roof and broke his back and is now paralyzed kept flooding to my mind. I'm so grateful to be able to exercise and to have a healthy body and to have competed in this event. A special thank you to Jen who is positive and encouraging and helped me to accomplish this.

Aspen, Nedra, Hanna, and Mitchell--we need more friends to join us in April
I'm grateful to my little girl who is always willing to try something new and competed in the kids division. She did an amazing job. I was so proud of her. Jake and Carter will be joining her and I in April when we go back to St. George and do it again and try to improve our times.
My time was 1 hour and 37 minutes and Hanna's was 27 minutes. The Sprint for me included the following distances: 8 laps or 16 length swim, 10 mile bike ride, and 3mile run. Hanna's was 2 lengths swim, 1 mile bike ride, and 1/2 mile run.

the skirt pattern is Edith Twirl Skirt. you can find the link off heather bailey's blog. i love it. and it was only $10. it's a download and that's one thing i love about it. and the pattern...well it's just rectangles. so she gives you dimensions! oh another thing i love. i have a friend who made two cute ones for her little girls for christmas and with the leftover fabric she made the cutest handbags. funny enough, she googles scripture bags and found your blog post! imagine my surprise when i was telling her to go to your site and she said, 'i bookmarked this page!' anywho...i will go take a picture of her bags because she used huge ric-rack one one and pom poms on the other. oh they are sooooooo cute!
you have such great taste in fabric, i just know your skirts are going to be way cute!
I'm so proud of you and Hanna. You gals are two amazing chicks!! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving...
