Top of Germany

Garmisch Feb trip 059
The highlight of our Winter Weekend in Garmisch was getting to go up to the Zugspitze or the highest point in Germany.  This is the boys at the bottom before beginning our ascent…..it is 10 degrees out.  We are so excited for the views we are about to see.  The weather is cold, but we have BLUE, clear skies.  We can hardly wait to get to the top!!

The Zugspitze is the highest peak in Germany.  Its close to 10,000 feet high!  We don’t know how cold it was at the top, but we do know that we only lasted on the viewing platform for about 10 – 12 minutes before we were done.  If you ride up on one side of the mountain you are in Germany….the other side is Austria.  The views were incredible.  It was a happy ten minutes for me and my camera.

Here we are waiting for the cable car to pick us up and take us back down.  Garmisch Feb trip 088Garmisch Feb trip 082Garmisch Feb trip 090The ride down only took about 10 minutes.  Wow were those cables at a steep angle!  One of the windows was open on our cable car so the operator let me take pictures out the window.  Wow I felt lucky for this opportunity.  It was neat to come down and feel like you were on top of the trees.  Garmisch Feb trip 092Garmisch Feb trip 101Garmisch Feb trip 104Garmisch Feb trip 106
