Dachau Concentration Camp

WARNING:  There are some sensitive pictures in this post dealing with German Concentration Camps

When we woke up to go sledding and realized it was raining and had washed away most of the snow, we had to come up with a new plan for the day.  I decided it would be a good day to go to Dachau and Jared suggested we swing by The Hofbrau Haus in Munich for dinner.  The kids were game before we got the words out of our mouth.  They love The Hofbrau Haus almost as much as we do!

We did not take our younger kids through this camp.  They do not recommend anyone under 12 to go in, so Jared went with Carter and then I went through with Hanna while the other one stayed with the little boys.

Dachau:  The first Nazi Concentration Camp opened in Germany for Political Prisoners as described from the Chief of Police of Munich

I have always had a curious fascination of WWII and of the Nazi Regime so this was definitely something I had been wanting to see.  It was about how I thought it would be.  You really cannot fathom the events that happened there, but a very sobering feeling comes over you as you visit.  Its as if you can feel the heaviness for those who were treated so poorly while staying here and those who lost their lives.  There isn’t much more to say the pictures kind of tell the story, but unless you visit you can not feel the heaviness.

The gate at the entrance translates to:  “WORK MAKES FREE”

These buildings are the crematoriums.  We quickly went through these as they were very eery
