Joshy was pretty excited to wake up to all these presents on the table! He got to open one before school (Lord of the Rings Galem lego set) and then had to wait until after school for the rest when Daddy got home from work. As soon as the kids walked in the door from school our house was filled with loud and excited children. We focused and got homework done, had M&M cookies for snack (made to take into school tomorrow for Josh’s class per his request), and then had to wait the awful, tortuous minutes until Dad walked in the door.
It has been snowing here on and off for a few days. Not a lot, but enough to detour any jumping on the trampoline. Besides it is freezing outside. This is a much NEEDED ritual at our house. The boys need their unwind get out their energy jumping time on the trampoline. So without it I’m left with a house full of unruly, crazy wound up boys who jump all over my furniture and tear my couch apart. They play a game right now where they run from the front door all the way into the living room and do summersault flips over the arm of the couch landing on their backs on the couch cushions. That explains why our leather is so worn and cracked these days! I love my boys and they are really good boys, but when you add the excitement of a birthday party and no outside time you are left with a mother ready for kids to get to bed at 7:30 (which never happens).
I digress…. back to the party. Jared walked in the door around 5:15 with doners kebaps from our favorite doner stand in Landstuhl. It is a roach coach right by the entrance of Toom (a hardware store) and we have determined they have the best doners there. Doners are similar to gyros in the states but better and very much a part of German culture. I think they actually come from Turkey here though not Greece. Josh asked to have these for his birthday dinner! We all sat around the table and devoured them. The leftovers went into lunch boxes for school tomorrow!
Finally the much anticipated opening of gifts. Josh got some fun items…he is one happy kid. We just love him so much in our family. He is adorable and sweet. Jake picked him out some more animals including this awesome three headed dog that reminds us of Harry Potter Book one!
He also got a Nintendo 3 DS case, a Playmobil western cowboy set from Hanna, and this Stunt Twister RC car. It is pretty cool how it can twist and turn and move with lights flashing everywhere! I just Love the big eyes Cole has when he registers what toy Josh is opening up…..he shrieked with delight out of excitement for Josh! We spent the evening taking turns playing with it! Next he opened crayons and then his big Lord of the Rings Hobbit Lego set. Josh exclaimed “THIS IS THE ULTIMATE”!!
We polished off this fun family party with Pikachu (made by the ultimate awesome Dad) cake and vanilla ice-cream. Josh kept saying this is my “FAKE” birthday because he doesn’t actually turn 7 until Friday, but we needed to celebrate early since we are leaving for Center Parcs family resort on that day.
Happy Birthday little man….may all your birthdays be this Happy and surrounded by those who LOVE you the most!
