Santorini Greece

My Camera was very happy this day…….I’m just sayin’.  Talk about perfect weather and place……Such a fun and colorful day!!

We tendered over to the Island of Santorini ready for some fun!  We didn’t spend much time in Fira which is the first town you come to where the infamous Donkey Trail is.  We instead caught a bus over to Oia (“Ee-ah”), to get the breath taking views that Santorini is known for.  And wow, this place is fabulous- a photographers day dreams come true. 

 

During the Ottoman ages of Greece, Grecians were not allowed to fly their blue and white flag…..but here they used lots of white and blue paint to symbolize their Grecian patriotism.

Back in Fira the most famous way to travel up the cliffs is these Donkeys…. WE heard very mixed reviews about them,  Stinky, hot, sweaty, fun, a must, a definite not,  everyone had their opinions.  We opted not to take them in the end and just walked down the switch backs.  It was quite the task however….the stairs are covered in Donkey droppings, they are slippery, and you have to dodge Donkey’s the whole time.  I swear they know nothing but that trail.  They just charge up the thing and you better move or you are gonna get “nudged” forcefully by one of the stinky creatures!
