One of the main reasons that we planned our Memorial Day Weekend trip to Paris was that Colette (Jared’s sister) and husband Ryan were flying in to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. We were so excited to see them and spend a day in Paris together. We spent a lot of our time talking and planning next summer when the whole family will come back to spend 6-8 weeks touring Europe and staying with us between trips. We will get to do some of their trips with them. They have been planning it for about 6 months, and its fun to think that one year from now, it will be happening!
So we hadn’t seen the Orsay museum yet so we met them there. As Europe’s number one Impressionist art museum we were sure to see some good stuff. Yes we did….Sweet Hanna was in heaven. She still loves art very much and could spend three times as long at Art Musuems than the rest of us. Aunt Kandra and Uncle Patrick, where are you….we need you our “artsy” family to come and spend hours with her! We loved the Orsay. It is way smaller than the Louvre, and you can see famous paintings in almost every room. We saw many Vincent Van Gogh’s and lots of Monet.
This clock was ginormous. It was worth getting yelled at to get a picture of. They are very strict on the no photos please rule. I was doing good I thought for taking a photo of the clock not their famous art work, but still it made them grumpy. In a rebellious after thought, I took the art photos below.
This clock was on the upper level and was so cool. It took an entire wall from bottom to top almost.
There was a balcony upstairs that you could walk out on. It was such a great weather weekend. It offered views of the Louvre, Sacre Cour and Paris in every direction.
Cole took a special liking to Colette after she doted over him. I explained to him that their names were kind of spelled the same so that makes Colette special. Now whenever Colette’s name comes up he states that he loves her and that their names are the same!
After introducing Colette and Ryan to Eiffel Tower Crepes they were convinced how amazing they were! The experience of eating a chocolate Nutella Crepe piping hot while sitting in view of the Eiffel Tower is really amazing. I recommend it to EVERYONE!!
WE LOVE PARIS!!!!!
We took off on foot toward the Luxembourg gardens which are next to the Louvre. It was quite the long walk, but through a very scenic part of Paris. Within the gardens is the Orangerie museum. It is small but oh so cool. Monet’s famous Water Lilly paintings are displayed here in white walled rooms with not a lot else. They don’t need anything else. They speak for themselves. See Hanna admiring below: As Monet’s eyesight started to go, he painted bigger and with less detail, but still a commanding sense of color and composition.
Can you find the Arch de Triomphe?
Saying goodbye after a fun day together. It was so nice to reconnect with family!
The kids begged for us to lock up our love and throw away the key……so we did!

I LOVE Paris! Great post! Love all the pictures especially the clock picture. How neat for your artist Hanna to see Monet's paintings in real life!!!
