BERWANG AUSTRIA: We spent two nights in Berwang Austria on our way to our Berchetesgaden week vacation. Berwang was an amazing little Austrian village that had a great location close to all the King’s famous Castles. (Hohenschwangau, Neuschwanstein, and Linderhof Palace). We drove by Hohenschwangau again as well as saw Neuschwanstein in the distance, but opted not to go see it since it is under heavy scaffolding until next year. It was a wonderful two days of wandering through Bavarian villages, decked out with painted scenes on the houses, as well as flowers galore! It was heavenly. This part of Southern Germany and the Austrian border are very close to each other. You go in and out of the two countries constantly while driving along. It is known for being gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Berwang was so beautifully nestled in the Alps. Each morning we woke up to the crispest, clearest, freshest air I have ever breathed. It was wonderful to stand on the balcony of our apartment and enjoy just breathing and being alive!
