It was so awesome to have Jen and Darin on the same continent! They came over with The Raymonds for a European whirlwind trip of 2 weeks. They started in Southern France and then headed to Italy (where we ran into them in Venice at the train station on our way to Rome!) which was so crazy and fun! Then they flew on Ryan Air to visit us in Germany for a five days before heading back to Geneva Switzerland to fly home. We wasted no time in showing them Germany and started by heading to Bingen to catch the day cruiser up the Rhine to St. Goar and Reinfels Castle!
This part of the Rhine is star studded on both sides with castles: It was a gorgeous day to take it all in!
St. Goar is a cute little village with quaint shops and alleys, lots of flowers, and gelato shops. After looking at a few shops and getting gelato, we headed up the hill to Reinfels Castle to take in the view and have a tour. Unfortunately, we got there at 5:00, right when they were closing! I was so disgruntled. I forget STILL how early things close in Germany and all of Europe. Especially in the Summer I forget since there is sunlight until close to 10 pm. It really threw me off when they said they were closing. Such a bummer cuz it’s a cool castle to explore.
The lady let us go in the entrance to take a few pics before she made us leave to close the doors.
It is still a worth while climb for the views and closer look at the castle.
Thanks guys for coming and spoiling us with friends from the states! You are the best!
We caught the train in St. Goar back to our car in Bingen. These two fellas kept us more than entertained. They had the funniest things to say in English. The one on the left learned his English by watching Beavis and Butthead and other American shows as equally mind stimulating….. glad we offer the world such great entertainment and education (note sarcasm needed when reading last sentence).
