Our hotel in Rome was an experience! Located a block and a half from the Vatican, sits a Monastery attached to a church. Not all of the buildings were being used by Monks anymore so they converted one into a hotel. We stayed here. It was quite nice and the perfect location. WE were able to go back and change out of our Vatican friendly clothes to get cooler (it is HOT in Rome during the first week of July!) as well as come back at night to take some night time pictures.
We had Museum tickets right away the first morning, so we got up and out the door to go through the VATICAN Museum as well as the famous St. Peter’s BASILICA where the Pieta resides. This was Jared’s and my second time through, but everyone else’s first.
Leading up to The Sistine Chapel: The suspense just about kills you! Then you get to see it, but no pictures allowed! And they will yell at you and make you erase it off your camera. Not that I’m speaking from experience:)
Michelangelo’s Pieta in the chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica. Beautiful!!
WE ran into Dino our tour guide from two years earlier…hysterical!
Cathedral’s in ancient Rome are a playground right?
