Alnwick Castle

Located just south of Edinburgh over the border an hour and a half into England, is Alnwick Castle.  Scenes from Harry Potter 1 & 2 were filmed here.  It is situated in the countryside and is so picturesque!  We were excited to check it out and take real flying lessons just like the first years of Hogwarts did!

As an interesting side note, we got to the Ryan Air Airport and were getting through security when we realized that we were missing Hanna’s suitcase.  Jared had told Hanna and I to bring it down from our bedroom, but neither of us remembered him saying it.  It was crazy.  We had to make a GAP run (bummer!) to get her some basics to get through the week.  As well as underwear and socks.  She wore my shoes and we had to wash a few things by hand.  She was a great sport about it!  Such a good girl!  That was a first for us.  After all these travels this is the first real slip up we’ve had.

Two visitors showed up while we were hanging out.  Hagrid and then Harry Potter!

Josh got called up to be a helper to Hagrid!  He looked so cute up there and got lots of laughs when he tried to high five Hagrid!

Here are all the “Weasley anscestors” who happened to be in attendance that day:

Calling their brooms by yelling “UP”!  You gotta love Josh’s serious wizard face:  He takes his magic very serious!

After a wonderful day at the Castle, we headed to explore around our hotel.  We found this Lindisfarne castle  located high on the rock overlooking the North Sea water.  There was a long road to drive to it just outside of the village nearby.  The signs were saying only buses could go on the road.  I talked Jared into being rebellious with me and driving up to the structure.  It was later in the evening and I was figuring that all tours were done for the day.  It was fun to explore and thankfully, we didn’t get caught on the “bus only” road!
