Tulip Festival in the Netherlands

I LOVE TULIPS!!!!   So I have been really excited about going to the Keukenhof Tulip Gardens in The Netherlands.  It is up by Amsterdam.  It took us about 5 hours to get there.  We stayed one night in nearby Zoemeteer.  We went to the city of Delft for dinner and to look around, but our weather did not hold up and we cut the night short to get out of the rain.  We ended up relaxing in our hotel rooms.

From the minute you walk into the park of Keukenhof you are greeted with thousands of tulips, these shoes, and pretty trees and flowers of every color.  It was a very enjoyable day even if it was a bit on the cold side.  Thankfully we didn’t get rained on!  I wasn’t sure if the kids would like the gardens or not, but they did really well and loved looking and finding every color of the rainbow.  April-May 085 copyApril-May 086 copyApril-May 087 copyApril-May 089 copyApril-May 090 copyApril-May 092 copyApril-May 096 copy

One of Hanna’s favorite things to draw are flowers.  She brought her mini sketch pad so she could make mini sketches to remember all the different flowers by.  Then she will go home and paint them!  She is really good at drawing flowers.  April-May 098 copyApril-May 104 copyApril-May 108 copyApril-May 114 copyApril-May 116 copy  April-May 120 copy

The tulips were so tall!  We tried to show the size of them in the pictures.  They were almost as tall as Cole and the flower part was huge!  We put Jared’s hand up to show the comparison.  April-May 119 copy

They had several different varieties.  These ones look like they had frayed edges.

The boys loved picking up and holding the fallen tulip leaves.  This one that Jake found was not only huge, but the most beautiful pink color ever.  April-May 128 copyApril-May 132 copyApril-May 135 copyApril-May 141  April-May 149 copyApril-May 146 copyApril-May 152 copyThese flowers were some of our other favorites.  They seem to grow upside down.  The copper color was very unique.  April-May 153 copyApril-May 144 copy   April-May 156 copyApril-May 158 copyApril-May 162 copyApril-May 167 copy  April-May 161 copyApril-May 164 copyAll around Keukenhof are these tulip fields where they grow rows upon rows of gorgeous tulips.  April-May 175 copyApril-May 182 copyApril-May 189 copyApril-May 191 copy  April-May 193 copyApril-May 197 copyApril-May 200 copyApril-May 201 copyApril-May 203 copyApril-May 204 copyApril-May 205 copyCan you spy Chopin in flowers?

Beyond jealous. I LOVE THOSE FLOWERS! I thought Jared's hand with the tulip was one of the kids, I've never seen flowers so big. So gorgeous! Miss you!

I bet Hanna came away with lots of flowers on her 'to-paint' list. Such a beautiful place!

Unreal! I would love to see that. And Hanna looks so grown up, it's killing me!
