Carter had a brilliant idea to go ice skating for family night in early December (really he wanted to practice up a bit before going back with the youth joint activity in a few weeks:) We had an awesome night! Josh was quite determined to do his best. He held on to Mr. Penguin almost the whole night. He was quite determined to stay up….and he mostly did. Jake had a rough go for the first little while. He cried for awhile wouldn’t let anyone help him and then finally complained about his ice-skates. Upon further inspection we realized he had not buckled them properly (meaning not at all)! Once we got him all buckled properly, he was skating like a champ. Go figure….ice-skating is easier when you use the skates properly. So like Jake. So anxious to have fun and be done first with everything that little details are often overlooked.
We never know what we are gonna get with this kid. His emotions are all over the place.
We followed up Ice Skating by heading to the Kaiserslautern Christmas Market on the Walkplatz just down the street from our church and a couple of blocks from the ice-skating arena. After paying an arm and leg for our ice-skating and then needing to save some for parking in the expensive underground German parking lot, we did not have a lot to spare for the Christmas Market. We shared some Dampnudeln mit vanile sauce and then headed home having spent every last euro we could scrounge up for parking! We are usually more on top of it, but with two currencies to constantly deal with sometimes we run out unexpectedly.
I just love going to the Walk Platz in downtown K-town….I have discovered the best parking and clothing stores by now and quite enjoy all the German stores!
