A trip to Germany is not complete without a visit to Rothenberg. A cool medieval town almost untouched by modernism. Almost. We arrived in time to have a great German traditional dinner before heading over to the town square to meet the Night Watchman for a tour. We finally got to do this!
Grandma was able to walk a portion of the wall while we pushed and carried her wheel chair along.
I love all these pointed roofs. Its so fun to visit Rothenberg!
You learn about the tradition of the Night Watchman whose job was to walk the wall and determine if it was secure for the night. The gates were very interesting. Curfews were strictly enforced.
We stayed in our favorite hotel find just outside of the get like 20 yards. Its called hotel Rappen and we have now stayed there twice. It’s the best, awesome German style breakfast included. Nice big rooms!
They wanted to see the Torture Museum which we have done before, but always worth repeating!
How would you like to wear these masks due to telling lies or spreading gossip?
Success! They officially loved Rothenberg!
We were able to swing by Heidelberg castle ruins and city on our round about way home from Rothenberg. It was a gorgeous night and fun to see the sun start setting down on the city!
Carter was pretty excited about this giant beer keg. It was rather large!

Rothenberg and Heidelberg? Now I'm really homesick.
