Organized Chaos

The movers started coming the day after Memorial day which was May 31st. The first 2000 lbs. was packed up first, Then the long shipment which took two days, and then the storage unit stuff was last. Our house was a bit of a mess. To everyone else it looks very chaotic, but to us it was very carefully planned out and everything put in its right pile. A method to our madness! The movers said more than once how well we were organized and ready for them, they had scheduled 3 days to pack us up on our big shipment and it only took 1 and a half days. It took a lot of months of preparation, to make the 'moving week' run smoothly.
What you are looking at is not just "piles" of junk!  It is the result of months and months of sorting, piling, organizing, and deciding where each item we own would be going for the next three years.  Pile #1.  Short shipment stuff (arrives the fastest to Germany.... nothing big like furniture only 2000 lbs. of kitchen items, blankets, lamps, bikes, balls, entertainment...the stuff we want to see the quickest!!
Pile #2  The stuff staying in storage in Las Vegas paid for by the Air Force (from the wheel barrow up)
Pile #3 Big items going to Germany in the slow shipment (rugs for the 'no carpet' house, shelves tools, etc.)
Pile # 3  The stuff in the closet is going in our luggage.  It is the only place the movers are not allowed to enter.... labeled as such with a sign on the door
Pile # 4  More stuff going to Germany in the slow shipment... The other pile at the bottom of the picture is all of our suitcases we will be taking on the plane

that makes me real tired thinking of all the work, if I were your movers I would have been impressed by your organization too! It's so fun to see posts from you guys, makes it seem like you are not quite so far away! We miss you :)

It does look like chaos to me... but I remember having the same piles and knowing exactly what was what. I bet you are so excited to see your 2000 pounds... and even more excited to see everything else. What a lot of work to get settled!
